Torrevieja symphony orchestra returns
New season of concerts contains music by a wide variety of composers
TORREVIEJA symphony orchestra ( OST) will be returning to the stage of the town’s international auditorium on October 24 and 25, with a concert of music by Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
The programme features Mozart’s Serenata Notturna and Piano Concerto No. 21, featuring the soloist Svetlana Berezhnaya, and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings Op. 48.
The concerts are the opening performances in the OST’s 2020/ 21 programme.
The inaugural concerts will be followed with the traditional New Year performances on January 3 and January 6, where the orchestra will perform a series of seasonal waltzes, polkas, dances and Spanish music.
Next up, on February 27, the invited conductor Kay Bumann will see the OST with the pianist Shiran Wang through performances of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 Op. 11 and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 Op. 68.
On March 27 the orchestra with the pianist López Salas will give a concert of American music, featuring Gershwin’s Cuban Overture and Rhapsody in Blue, Danzón No. 2 by Arturo
Márquez, Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla, and Huapango by José Pablo Moncayo.
The final concert in the cycle is on May 8, when OST accompanied by the violinist Sora Han perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Piazzolla’s
Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas.
With the exception of the February 27 performance, the orchestra will be conducted by José Francisco Sánchez Sánchez.
Tickets cost between € 10 and € 25 for all performances, except
the final concert where they range from € 7 to € 20.
A season ticket covering five performances costs from € 75 to € 95. Tickets for the inaugural concert and season tickets are available every Monday from 10.0013.00 from the Torrevieja symphony orchestra office at Calle Vicente Blasco Ibañez, 23. All concerts start at 19.00. The wearing of face masks is obligatory and other safety precautions will also be in place.
