Results of the individual stableford competition held in Oliva Nova Golf on Tuesday September 22

It was a good day for golf on Tuesday, the weather was cooler than of late so all looked good for a great day’s golf. We had 37 Pego members playing today, along with two guests; Frank Naughton and Martin Dunkley. It was also good to welcome back some old friends, Barry Levett, Malcolm Sharp along with Michel and Elizabeth Grin.

There were four twos today; Derek Lindley, Celia Cronin, Steve Boyes and Charlie Millar, you just can’t keep that man out of the winner’s circle! Nearest the pin on hole 5 went to Paul Trigwell with his second shot landing 7.4m from the pin, on hole 16 Shaun O’Gorman’s tee shot won the day, finishing 1.99m from the pin.

The course was quite short today, there is a lot of maintenance being carried out at Oliva at the moment, so, to ensure we could play golf the Oliva management have had to create some temporary tees, which in turn has made the course a lot shorter. With this in mind we expected some low scoring and we were not disappointed. In the second division with a massive 43 points Fiona Sankey took the honours, but only by a point from Peter Cornes. It was much closer in the first division with only 3 points separating the first place from the joint fourth place. Once again Charlie Millar took the honours with 41 points.

This week’s winners were; Division 1:

1st Charlie Millar 41 points 2nd Mick Farmer 40 points 3rd – Derek Lindley 40 points 4th Russ Peters & Malcolm Cannon 39 points Division 2:

1st Fiona Sankey 43 points 2nd Peter Cornes 42 points

3rd Elizabet Grin 41 points 4th Brian Barden 39 points As with previous weeks following our recent custom, introduced because of Covid19 there are no pictures for the paper, we continue to believe that unless we wear masks there could be an inference that we are not social distancing or wearing masks. We can continue to assure everyone that we are doing both of these things as the rules require, but did think masks would look odd in a photograph.

There is no competition next week as the course is being reseeded, but there will be tee times available so if you would like to play, please contact penelopebarden@ gmail. com

Pego Society meet every Tuesday at Oliva Nova Golf Club, and if you would like to play or join our society please send an email to Penny Barden at pegohandicapsec@ gmail. com, and we would love to see you. Or we can be contacted via our new website which is https:// pego. golfclub. website
