A BRITON has been arrested after a compatriot was stabbed to death in Ciudad Quesada, Rojales in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

According to the Guardia Civil, the 38- year- old suspect was detained in Girona province near the French border ‘ as he was attempting to flee the country’.

A force spokesman explained that the victim was a 21- year- old British man.

He noted that the crime had occurred at around 02.30 on October 1 at a property in Ciudad Quesada.

The Guardia Civil investigation found that the two Britons had been inside the home with two other people.

“During the night an argument broke out and the victim was stabbed in the neck,” the spokesman stated.

The 21 year old staggered outside the property and neighbours phoned the emergency services to report that a man was bleeding profusely in the street.

They told the security services that he had lost consciousness and fell to the ground. Guardia Civil and local police officers rushed to the scene but were unable to do anything to save the young man’s life.

The spokesman reported that he died from a blood haemorrhage. Investigating officers discovered that the man suspecting of carrying out the fatal stabbing had fled in a car ‘ with the intention of leaving the country’.

The N332 Facebook page published details of a vehicle which the suspect may have been using – a black BMW with the British number plate MW63MPF.

The 38- year- old suspect has been remanded in custody by a Torrevieja judge.
