Grants available for green transport
Bid to reduce air pollution in the region
THE VALENCIA government is stumping up € 4.9 million to encourage sustainable forms of transport in the region.
The money can be used to set up charging points for electric vehicles, electric bicycle hire schemes and for ‘ sustainable transport to places of work’.
A regional government spokesman explained that a number of different grants are available to residents and businesses under the ‘ Moves II’ initiative. He noted that applications can be presented until October 7 next year for the aid.
A total of € 3.7 million is on offer for charging points for electric vehicles, which can be for public or private use.
The grants will cover 30% of the cost for private companies and 40% for residents, self- employed people, communities of residents, local associations and the public sector.
They are also helping with ‘ green transport’ to work, with a total of € 1 million available.
Although specific methods of transport are not outlined, the regional department notes that 40% of the cost will be met to help set them up.
The remainder of the money is available for public electric bicycle hire schemes and for those operating on industrial estates.
They have to be situated in the street and available for the public to hire.
A total of 30% of the cost of these initiatives is available.
The spokesman noted that their public entity Ivace Energía is also providing different grants to help residents and companies to purchase electric vehicles.
He reminded that they can receive up to € 5,500 towards the cost of ‘ purely electric’ cars and vans, and € 2,600 for ‘ hybrid vehicles which take on electricity’. Up to € 750 is available for electric motorcycles.
More information on the ‘ Moves II’ initiative – which is also being managed by Ivace Energía – and on aid for other forms of sustainable transport can be found on their website by putting ‘ Ivace Energía’ into a search engine.
