I'm floating in the air
THE NUEVEUNO theatre and circus company was founded in Madrid in 2014 by Jorge Silvestre, Miguel Frutos and Josu Monton, in order to ‘ develop their artistic curiosity around contemporary circus’.
From the very beginning, the group was looking to establish its own stage language, by fusing juggling, choreography, music, set design and lighting with their own original musical compositions, which accompany the shows.
The company’s debut production, Sinergia 3.0 received excellent reviews and resulted in them performing at major theatres and festivals throughout the country.
They began work on their second production, Suspensión ( suspension) in 2018, with the objective of premiering it in spring of this year and taking Sinergia 3.0 to a wider international audience.
The show examines the precise moment when a ball is thrown up in the air in a straight line, loses its inertia and remains, for a brief moment, floating in the air – an ephemeral photograph after which the ‘ normal’ outcome would be the ball returning to where it came from. But what does ‘ normal’ mean? This poses the question: What if it changes its trajectory or decides to remain suspended eternally?

pension point; the moment when anything can happen; the moment when we can give way to gravity, or take different decisions; the moment a ball floats and with it we all hold our breath. The moment of Suspension.”
