Migratory Bird Day in Murcia
Three guided tours promoting the region's natural spaces and rich avian heritage
WORLD Migratory Bird Day, which takes place this Saturday ( October 10), is ‘ an annual awareness- raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats’.
Murcia region environment department has organised a series of different activities to mark the occasion.
Under the theme, Las aves, indicadores de calidad de vida ( birds, quality of life indicators), there are a total of three tours:
Sunday, October 18 - 09.3012.00: Three kilometre guided tour of Calblanque regional park entitled Los ambientes de las aves ( bird environments). Participants will learn about the relationships between the park’s different habitats and the diversity of the birds that populate it. Suitable for people aged 10 years old and over. Saturday, October 24 – 10.3013.30: 4.4km guided visit to Cañaverosa natural reserve entitled
Despierta los sentidos en la senda de la huertecica ( awaken the senses on the smallmarket garden path), which will enable visitors to learn about the area’s birds. Suitable for people aged seven years old and

Sunday, October 25 – 11.0012.30: Guided visit to El Valle y Carrascoy regional park entitled Las Aves de la Región de Murcia, embajadoras de la biodiversidad ( the birds of Murcia region, biodiversity ambassadors). It will take participants on a tour of the wild animal recovery centre, where they will be informed of the different problems that wild animals encounter. It is suitable for people of all ages.
