Week September 28

On Monday it was 2 scores from 4 to count but with all scoring on holes 1, 9, 10 and 18. Until today the record, set back in 2015, stood at 100 points. Two teams managed to better that with both achieving 101 points! After count back ( which went down to the final six holes) it was Bryen Neal, Marleen Billen, John Shervell and Mike Chapman taking the accolades. Just missing out on getting their names into the hall of fame were Dave Pulling, Mike Brentnall and Graham and Petina Murray.

There was surely another record set, when on Wednesday, it was round two ( of three) of the Club Championship Medal. We witnessed Nigel Price score an incredible 12 under par nett 60! ( Had it have been stableford that would have equated to 48 points!) Ten strokes behind him came Ann Marie Weisheit and with a nett 71 ( on countback from Graham Murray) Friedel Knebel took the third spot. Three ‘ 2’ s today, one for Trevor Pullyblank and not surprisingly two for Nigel ( whose handicap would be slashed by seven shots.)

Friday saw Mark Western crowned as this year’s individual match play champion. In a closely fought contest he overcame Paul Brown 2 and 1. Lindsay Forbes took the third slot by beating Terry Field 4 and 3.

There was probably the closest ever finish in our Texas scramble today.

Winning with a net score of 61.625 were Graham and Petina Murray together with Pete Dunn and ‘ Albert’. With 61.7 it was Ken and Liz Robertson, Reg Akehurst and Tom Hardie who missed out by the narrowest of margins.
