Klenat
Scandinavian klenat is a crunchy donutlike fried pastry, traditionally eaten around Christmas in the Nordic region.
It is also found in nearby countries such a Lithuania and in Eastern Europe. The dough is made from flour, egg yolks, sugar and butter which is cut into strips and left to rest in a cold place before frying in shallow oil. They are best served warm, sprinkled with icing sugar. They are commonly sold in bakeries in bags of 10 – not dissimilar to Spanish ' churros'. A very similar version can also be found in Nigeria, where it is known as Chin Chin.
