Palace plunged back into darkness

- By Irena Bodnarec news@ cbnews. es

THE OWNERS of one of Benidorm’s most important entertainment venues – Benidorm Palace – have been forced to close their doors again following the introduction of the midnight curfew.

As a nighttime venue which does not finish until well past midnight, they have said they had no other option.

Like other venues, they switched off their lights in March and stayed shut for five long months until August 8.

Being a fullon production, they note that there is no way it can be shortened without losing a huge part of show, thereby depriving visitors of the full visual impact and experience.

Owner Christine Climent spoke exclusively to CBN on the sad situation that they have been forced into.

But she reassured readers: “On a positive note all I can say is that we will be back, however the goalposts are changing every single day.

“We are working on Christmas and New Year being open, but again, it’s in the lap of the gods.

“We won’t know until nearer the time but we are planning on doing Christmas night, Boxing night and New Year’s Eve.”

She stated that she was ‘ gutted’ about the rise of the coronavirus once more but ‘ sadly we have to learn to live with it’.

“It’s heartbreaking – we can wait but so many have lost their businesses through no fault of their own. That is what’s so sad,” she added.

“But the Palace is still making plans, forging ahead and as soon as it is possible to open those doors, rest assured we will.”
