Agreement gives tourism boost to Altea
THE REGIONAL secretary for tourism, Francesc Colomer and Altea mayor Jaume Llinares have signed a collaboration agreement which will see the regional tourism department providing € 50,000 in order to promote tourism and carry out a marketing campaign for the town.
Sr Colomer highlighted ‘ Altea’s will to find its role and its tourist identity in the world’.
Mayor Llinares said: “This is an agreement that provides us with a significant amount of money to promote our town, which is fundamental, especially at a time like this.”
He added: “Altea has been the municipality that has grown the most in overnight stays in the month of August, always applying adequate and
appropriate measures to guarantee the safety of all.”
At the same time he advocated a ‘ change of model, very focused on national tourism, which can help us to build loyalty’.
As part of the marketing strategy, improvements have been made in the online positioning of the ‘ VisitAltea’ website.
Altea has also published different promotional videos in different languages and is attracting family tourism through an interactive game called Marco Topo, which includes a map and stickers, aimed at youngsters..
Likewise, as a result of the agreement, five new audioguided visits have been incorporated on the PlayAltea downloadable app to avoid crowds at destinations.
The agreement will allow new content to be added to the app that will be translated into Valencian, English and French.
They also aim to promote gastrotourism in the municipality.
Sr Colomer also visited the Algar waterfalls in Callosa de Ensarriá, accompanied by the town’s mayor, Andrés Molina, to check on new projects promoted by his department to enhance the area.
Aid to the municipality, to the tune of € 42,000 since 2017, has allowed improvements to all signage at Algar, the expansion of the firstaid room and the reform and extension of the toilets in the picnic area.
Accessibility to the main area of the natural attraction has also been improved this year.
