TV income is sky high!

-

IN 199293, the first season of Premiership football, Sky splashed out £ 191m for the rights to screen topflight domestic matches. And now the company will pay out £ 5bn over three seasons: 202022 inclusive.

Also, it’s said that Sky’s overseas rights have grown considerably between 1992 and 2020 – rising steadily from an initial outlay of £ 40 million up to a staggering £ 4.5 billion.

For the record… I understand that if you own a bar/ restaurant/ hotel ( in the UK of course) it will be a lot cheaper to rent with the new company ‘ NetFlix’ than it is to continue paying for these three current services, Sky, BT and Amazon, which I gather already costs £ 76 a month (£ 912 per year).

Now ardent fans will have to pay to watch Premier

League games on TV.

Since the return of football, behind closed doors in June, all Premier League games have been shown on Sky Sports, BT Sport Amazon Prime and the BBC, with current subscriptions covering each match.

This agreement was extended for September when the 202021 season officially began, but a new model has now been introduced to viewers.

Described as an ‘ interim solution’, every game not being shown on the basic Sky and BT sports packages, will be screened on Sky Sports Box Office or BT Sport Box Office at a cost of £ 14.95 per game.

So if you want to watch the scheduled five matches which will be covered over each weekend, you will have to fork out a cool £ 74.95.
