Borders closed for Easter
Regional land borders remain closed for the bank holidays
THE VALENCIA region will keep its borders closed over the next two bank holidays – father’s day (San José, March 19) and the Easter period, which runs until April 9.
Councillor for health Ana Barceló noted that the measure had been agreed in an online meeting of representatives of all Spain’s regions.
Sra Barceló explained that health councillors had agreed a framework for the restrictions which will be in force over the coming weeks.
She noted that only people from the same households will be able to meet in private – homes, gardens, etc – although the current ‘bubble’ arrangements for single dwellers will remain in place.
Valencia region’s Covid-19 committee met yesterday (Thursday) afternoon to discuss specific measures for the region.
Regional president Ximo Puig announced that on Monday (March 15) the interiors of bars and restaurants can open at one third of total capacity.
They can use 100% of their terrace space, with a maximum of four people per table, but will still have to close at 18.00.
Indoor gyms, swimming pools and sports installations can open to cater for up to a third of their total capacity.
The maximum number of people from different households allowed to meet up in public spaces was kept at four.
Sr Puig said the measures will run until April 12 ‘but if there is a big change then they could be revised’.
The current curfew which runs from 22.00 to 06.00 will remain in place.
“We have to generate an atmosphere of contention in all areas,” he said. “If people act responsibly then we will be able to take big steps forward in the coming months.”
