ADAPT lockdown contest
THE ADAPT association of San Pedro del Pinatar is organising a photographic competition entitled ‘Surviving Lockdown’.
The competition is open to everyone over 18 years of age and will be conducted entirely online.
No doubt many people have taken plenty of photographs over the last year – Zoom meetings with the family, pictures of wildlife, deserted streets, the emergency services doing their jobs – these are all part of what ‘Surviving Lockdown’ has meant for each and every one of us.
There are three prizes: a month of online Spanish or English tuition donated by Academia Galway; a stationery voucher worth €30 donated by Mail Pinatar; and the bilingual book ‘Sid’s Adventures in Spain’ donated by Jane Cronin.
The competition closing date is April 18, so participants have plenty of time to get their entries in.
For full details of the competition visit the association website at www.adaptsanpedro.com - then follow the competition rules link in the ‘latest news’ section located on the right of the page.
ADAPT has two main objectives, the wellbeing of its English speaking members, and the integration of these members into the wider Spanish community.
TEULADA Moraira town hall department for youth and children is organising monthly drive-in movie (autocine) screenings at the Sorts car park in Moraira.
The sessions are aimed at children, youths and families and intend to offer free leisure opportunities within the municipality, at the same time as complying with the strictest Covid regulations.
“This type of cinema has become a real and safe leisure alternative in the context of the pandemic,” says the town hall.
The screenings are scheduled to take place on March 13, April 10, May 8, October 13, November 13 and December 11.
There is a limited capacity for vehicles.
Councillor Aitor Llobell commented: “We have sufficient space to allow us to carry out events safely and in compliance with the regulations, the Covid situation has forced us to reinvent ourselves and to adapt.
“The drive-in movie is a feasible entertainment alternative and opens doors to more events such as these. Culture is safe and necessary.
“Children’s and youth leisure are a right and we always have to guarantee it.”
