Murcia activity backpack returns
MURCIA regional government has released details of its continuing Mochila de Actividades’ (activity backpack) programme.
There were initially 20 new activities set to run from January to March, however a number of events will have already taken place prior to the publication of this article. The remaining activities include five guided walks in natural spaces, an exhibition, a special World Wildlife Day event, and eight visits to El Valle wildlife recovery centre.
The initiative’s continuing aim is to promote environmental education and awareness activities aimed at highlighting the natural and cultural values of Murcia region’s protected natural spaces, thereby facilitating citizen participation and commitment to the conservation of the natural environment, and informing people of ways to learn about and enjoy nature while respecting its natural and cultural resources.
The activities are spread between the region’s natural parks in the Sierra Espuña, Calblanque, and El Valle-Carrascoy regional parks.
Participants will be able learn about the flora and fauna, and geology and landscapes of the parks, as well as traditional and current uses which are compatible with the conservation of these open spaces.
With the exception of the Sierra Espuña exhibition, prior registration is essential at https://mur cianatural.carm.es – then follow the ‘Mochila de Actividades’ icon in the bottom right of the screen.
The remaining visits to El Valle wildlife recovery centre take place twice daily on January 29, February 12, 13 and March 13. On January 30 there is a guided route called ‘in search of animals’ in Calblanque regional park.
Throughout February and March the exhibition ‘12 trees and one emotion’ is on display at the Ricardo Codorníu visitor
and management centre in the Sierra Espuña. In the same natural park on February 12 there is a guided route entitled ‘landscapes and contrasts of shade in the Sierra Espuña’, and on February 19 in Caleblanque regional park there is a route called ‘history of a landscape’.
On March 5, El Valle recovery centre is hosting a special event commemorating World Wildlife Day, and on March 12 there is a guided tour called ‘life in the forest of
Monte de las Cenizas’ in Calblanque park. The final event takes place on March 27 in the Sierra Espuña and is called ‘the wisdom of the forest’
All activities will be in Spanish.
