Benitachell women in focus
BENITACHELL town hall department for equality and gender politics recently announced its seventh Fotodona photography contest.
This year’s contest has three general prizes, €300, €100 and €50, and a €200 prize for the best entry by a local resident.
A novelty for this year’s contest is that it is open to people aged 16 and over (with parental consent required for participants aged up to 18 years).
The aim of the contest is to ‘give a personal vision of March 8, International Women’s Day, through images that empower women’.
“We want to give women a visual role so that they can have an autonomous life in order to access resources, recognition and decision-making in all spheres of their personal and social life,” said councillor for equality and gender politics, Víctor Bisquert.
To enter people are required to send in a photograph containing a ‘woman or several women, of legal age, at any time in their life regardless of nationality or culture’.
Additional consideration will be given to entries containing a woman or women who live in the town. Each participant may enter a maximum of three colour or black and white photographs, which must be unpublished. Entrants must provide a signed statement confirming they took the photo. If an identifiable person/s appears in an entry, their written consent will also be required.
Entries must be in a JPG format, and a maximum of 5mb with a resolution of 300dpi, as well being printed on 30cmx40cm photographic paper.
Participants must also complete an entry form which is available from the town hall online office, or at the resident attention office (Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano) situated at
Calle de les Escoles 2.
The jury is made up of experts in photography, design and culture, and the winning entries will be announced on the town hall website and social networks.
Entries are being accepted until 14.00 on February 18.
