Grants for Guadalest
ALICANTE provincial government’s head of infrastructures, Javier Gutiérrez visited Castell de Guadalest on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by town mayor Enrique Ponsoda to see the new multipurpose municipal building and discuss proposals for other projects.
The multipurpose building was possible thanks to a €332,500 subsidy from the provincial government, with Guadalest council contributing €17,500. The 200 square metre fully accessible building has a ground floor and two upper floors for municipal offices, a signage warehouse and a municipal garage. Mayor Ponsoda said this building would also soon house the town’s doctor’s surgery.
Javier Gutiérrez advanced that the Plan +Cerca 2022, approved last Friday, will allocate Guadalest a grant of about €160,000. He pointed out, ‘this amount is much higher than the €20,000 provided by the regional government’, and claimed it shows the provincial institution is the one really meeting the needs of small towns.
Last year, through the first Plan +Cerca, the municipality received €148,000, which has been used to improve pavements and streets in the Camino Polideportivo and improve the children's playgrounds in the town centre
In addition, Guadalest will receive Planifica grants amounting to more than €256,000, which will cover 95% of the cost of two major projects. With this investment, the municipality's culture centre will be enhanced, its deficiencies repaired, facilities updated and the ground floor redesigned. The paving in La Era square will also be replaced.
