Relleu joins region’s GastroTourism network
LAST Thursday, Relleu town hall signed up to the GastroTourism network of the Valencia region and its ‘L'Exquisit Mediterrani’ brand.
This new membership will allow the regional tourism board and Relleu council to coordinate and work together on the development of ‘Menjar a Relleu’, the next gastronomic event to be hosted by the municipality, at which traditional sausages and local olive oil will be showcased.
There are now 63 municipalities in the Valencia region that have joined the network, as well as other entities committed to the L'Exquisit Mediterrani brand, such as catering establishments, associations and universities, among others. The number of municipalities and entities that have already signed up to the regional tourism board’s gastronomic strategy is now close to 100.
The regional secretary for tourism, Francesc Colomer visited the town and met with the mayor, Lino Antonio Pascual.
Sr Colomeer emphasised: “L'Exquisit Mediterrani adds value to our gastronomy by highlighting the quality of our territory and way of life."
He wanted to highlight Relleu’s gastronomy, as well as the quality and variety of its products.
Visit to Relleu reservoir walkway
After the signing ceremony, Francesc Colomer, accompanied by the mayor, visited the recently installed Relleu suspended wooden walkway.
Sr Colomer highlighted the ‘fascinating’ capacity of this walkway, as well as ‘its integration into nature’.
During his visit, the head of tourism pointed out that the opening of this walkway to the public makes it possible for many people to ‘live a unique experience, which is what a large number of people are looking for when they travel’.
The walkway is suspended 60 metres above the ground, running along the side of a ravine as far as Relleu’s old 17th century dam.
The walkway itself is 212 metres in length, and leads to a glass-floored viewing platform .
