Great news for the valleys

JALÓN Valley Help and Cancer Care Jávea, both keen to improve the service to cancer patients and their families, have decided to jointly invest in a new project, Cancer Care The Valleys, to be based at the Jalón Valley Help Ánimo Drop-in Centre in Alcalalí. Both charities have long since recognised that there is a need to provide a more localised and accessible opportunity for those diagnosed with cancer to discuss their worries and concerns with a medically qualified practitioner.

Both charities are already working with a number of patients in the valley and the intention is to expand and enhance the services currently provided by Cancer Care, and in doing so complement those services provided by Jalón Valley Help.

This new venture will be formally launched at a charity concert, 'S´ howtime' featuring The Entertainers, to be held at the Casa de Cultura in Benissa on the evening of Thursday, April 7. The weekly cancer drop-in service will commence at the Ánimo centre on the following Thursday, April 14, from 11.30 to 13.30.

If you or any member of your family feel that you would benefit from the advice and support on offer, or just want some reassurance and the opportunity to talk, please feel free to drop in for a chat. Alternatively perhaps you may need the assistance of the Lynwen Specialist Nurses. In case the office is busy it might be preferable, although not essential, to arrange an appointment first by contacting Jayne on 722 684 093.

Together Jalón Valley Help and Cancer Care Jávea are determined to make a difference here in the valleys. They need your support, in whichever way you are prepared to give it, to ensure that this venture is a real success.

For those of you who come along to the evening on April 7, you are in for a real treat, however, with your support and encouragement, the real winners will undoubtedly be the patients and their families.

Further details regarding the launch event and the services being offered will be provided on the websites of both charities, regional newspapers, and on social media, etc. So please stay alert for these updates.
