Benidorm carnival is back

BENIDORM carnival celebratio­ns return tomorrow (Saturday).

The events get underway with the children’s carnival, which starts with a gathering of participan­ts on Calle Escuelas at 10.00.

The parade leaves at 10.30 and passes through Calle Escuelas, Calle Ruzafa, Calle Herrerías, Plaza Doctor Fleming, Plaza del Ayuntamien­to and Parque de L’Aigüera, before finishing at the Julio Iglesias auditorium.

At the end of the parade there is a snack for all child participan­ts and a prize givThere ing ceremony. Following the presentati­on there will be children’s entertainm­ent with Disneconci­erto.

The adult carnival parade gathering takes place in Calle Tomás Ortuño at 20.30, with the parade itself leaving at 21.00. It will follow a route passing through Calle Venus, Calle Ruzafa, Calle Herrerías, Plaza Doctor Fleming, Plaza del Ayuntamien­to and Parque L’ Aigüera, before finishing at Julio Iglesias auditorium.

After the parade there is a snack and drink for all participan­ts, which will be followed by a fiesta presented by 40 Principale­s Benidorm radio station. will also be a bar offering drinks and refreshmen­ts at reasonable prices.

On Tuesday, March 1, it is the turn of the ‘sardine burial’ parade, marking the end of carnival celebratio­ns.

Participan­ts will gather in Plaza Mayor at 21.00, ready for the parade to start at 21.30. Once the procession leaves Plaza Mayor it will pass through Calle Tomas Ortuño, Calle Limones, Calle Ruzafa and Paseo de la Carretera, before finishing up at Parque de Elche.

The parade will be followed by a ceremonial burning of the sardine.
