THE VALENCIA government is opening three logistics centres to channel humanitarian aid to Ukraine, with the one in Alicante province at the former Ciudad de la Luz film studios.

Regional president Ximo Puig explained that all sorts of goods, including non-perishable food, clothing and medicines are being handed over in acts of solidarity by the Valencian people.

He noted that the first tranche of aid for Ukraine was due to be sent this week via Poland.

This was one of many convoys with products asked for by the Ukrainian Embassy which will be sent in coordination with the national government, he said.

Torrevieja mayor Eduardo Dolón explained that the town hall would be sending its first lorry load of aid to the Cuidad de la Luz logistics centre this week.

On Wednesday he went to inspect the products which have been donated by residents in the municipality, accompanied by councillor for charities, Concha Sala.

The reception hub for donations is located at Calle Clemente Gosálvez, 24, in Torrevieja. It is being run by volunteers from different local charities.

Sr Dolón noted that all sorts of products have been handed over, including medicines, clothing, blankets and

non-perishable food.

He explained that they are being ordered and boxed up ready to be sent to the old film studios.

The mayor reminded that all the aid collected via town halls is being taken to the Ciudad de la Luz so it can then be sent on to the border

with Poland and Ukraine.

Torrevieja will continue to send aid in this way and he called on citizens to continue making donations.

The reception hub is open from Monday to Saturday – 10.00 to 13.00 and 17.00 to 20.00.
