Campoverde church helps local charities

- By Maggie Dew

ON Sunday, March 6, Campoverde Church in the Community was delighted to be able to hand cash donations totalling €800 to two charities they have been supporting for some time.

By donating to charities that cover Campoverde, we spread the range of help available to our villagers through more specialised support. This, of course, is in addition to the on-going help and support we provide on a continual basis. The two charities we have supported with cash donations are MABS, providing help to cancer sufferers and the people close to them; and HELP Vega Baja, supporting people in need and other likeminded charities.

You can find out more about each of these charities and their vital work by visiting their Facebook pages and/or websites.

We could not have made these donations without the active help and generosity of the people of Campoverde. The vast majority of the money donated came from our book trolleys, the memory trees, our Christmas carol singing, weekly collections

during church services and the many other activities we undertake as and when we can.

You can be assured that every euro you donate to the church is used to help local people. None of the people involved in the church receive any money whatsoever, not even expenses! All time and energy is donated free of charge because, as Christians, that is what we are called to do.

Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

The photo shows church warden, Maggie Dew and church treasurer, Peter Barlow handing the donations to representatives of MABS and HELP Vega Baja. We were delighted that we were also able to be joined by Reverend Helene Ohman.
