ADIS donates
THE VEGA Baja association for people with functional diversity (ADIS) has donated hundreds of kilogrammes of urgently needed products to help Ukrainian people in the face of the humanitarian crisis provoked by the Russian invasion.
The donation was taken in packed vans, driven by ADIS volunteers to La Lonja in Orihuela, where members of the Torrevieja Ukrainian association classified and sorted it prior to it being sent to its final destination.
ADIS, through its ‘solidarity weaving’ programme, has been involved from the first moment of the crisis, in collaborating with the Ukrainian population to collect all kinds of products in its centres.
Incorporated in the delivery was non-perishable food, medicines, personal hygiene items and clothes, etc.
The majority of the donations came from ADIS workers, service users and their families, as well as from the business Ilunion, which provided sheets, blankets, and coats free of charge. In the same way, the Mari Carmen beauty centre in Granja de Rocamora has collaborated with the collection of goods.
ADIS president Lourdes Pérez explained: “From the first minute we have tried to help, to the best of our ability, and respond to the appeal from the Ukrainian people and the serious humanitarian emergency they are experiencing.
“It is essential to lend a hand to those who need it and an association like ADIS knows as much as anyone how important solidarity is.”
People wanting to make a donation to the campaign can do so at the ADIS day centre at Calle Miguel Hernández, Orihuela; its early attention centre in Bigastro; the special employment centre at Calle Angelino Fons in Benejúzar; and the Mari Carmen beauty centre in Granja de Rocamora.
