Teen detained for bottle attack

-

A 17-YEAR-old boy has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in the back with a broken glass bottle, after an argument in a Benidorm nightlife venue continued outside.

The National Police were called and told the alleged assailant was still being held by the doorman of the establishment.

When they arrived, the doorman said the suspect’s three companions had got away and the victim had been taken to hospital by his friends because he was bleeding profusely. While this patrol took charge of the suspect and spoke to witnesses, another went to the hospital, where they found the victim with a friend who had suffered less serious injuries.

According to the doorman, witnesses and victims – four men, including the alleged assailant – had been provoking another person inside and bothering other clients so were asked to leave.

The four allegedly waited outside for the man they had been provoking, and all attacked him when he exited.

His friend tried to help him but was also assaulted. The victim suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back and noticed he was bleeding heavily and feeling faint.

The doorman said he had emerged to see the suspect take a glass bottle and break it, then stab one of the two men they were attacking, so he restrained him but the others fled.

The alleged assailant was covered in blood and also had a gash in his hand, which he admitted to the officers he did when he broke the bottle, and also said he had attacked the pair because they were taller than him.

The suspect is Colombian and has been put at the disposition of the prosecution service for minors.
