Classic car show and a run
THE JAGUAR Enthusiasts Club (JEC) put on a show of some of our members' cars at the Alicante classic car show in March, in order to promote the group.
Over the two-day event two E-Types - one being a convertible in dark blue and the other a 2+2 coupe in red - a beautiful MK2 also in red, a five litre supercharged convertible and a XK4.2 coupe, both in silver, all shone brightly in the well-lit show hall.
The dark blue convertible E-Type was our showstopper after its owner Ross Ord raised its bonnet revealing the engine - it certainly became the most photographed car on our stand.
Our monthly event was held on March 24 and amazingly the non-stop rain over many days cleared and the sun came out, for that one day only, as our convoy of Jaguars took a drive to the Murcia region through amazing scenery and rock formations where every possible piece of land had been cultivated for growing fruit trees and vegetables.
The destination was to the Baños de Fortuna, which is famous for its therapeutic spring water, and, over many years, hotels have been built to cater for people to stay to experience what is believed to be its healthy, healing waters.
The cafe theatre had been booked for a special visit and coffee and refreshment stop, and after a little time of chitchat and walking around viewing the area, it was time for the JEC to hit the road again.
Once we left the town of Fortuna we continued our drive through many small villages before finally finishing up back in Alicante province, in the Hondón valley. Our luncheon stop was organised at the restaurant Hondón Hub in Hondón de las Frailes, where a total of 49 hungry travellers enjoyed an English-style three course meal, with a main course choice of homemade meat pie, fish, or superb leg of lamb.
