T ight lines fishing
O N T uesday, M arch 2 2 , we foolishly fished the second round of the spring series at E l B osq uet complex .
A fter sev eral days of really bad wet weather, we feared that this ev ent may be cancelled but 1 9 hardy souls turned up. I t was raining and windy upon arriv al and this continued for most of the match. T he roads and peg s were q uite accessible and this shows what g ood work the complex has done lately.
T he match was won by T erry S creen with 1 6 .1 6 k g of mainly carp, caug ht on the pole. D rawn on the fav oured peg 1 , he strug g led for sev eral hours until he snared a few down the edg e on mag g ot. T his was a popular win, as T erry has been a stalwart of this club and it was g reat to see him return to the winner's circle. In second place was yours truly, Ian B rown. I took adv antag e of a v ery g ood draw on peg 2 6 . T he wind was so strong that it was almost impossible to fish the pole, so I spent most of the time on the method feeder. I fished micros on the feeder and a 6 mm pellet on the hook to catch all carp for 1 3 .1 8 k g . T hird place
went to the other local leg end, B ill R eade. D rawn on peg 6 he fished the pole with mag g ot for 12.46kg.
O ther section winners were R ichard S mith with 4 .0 2 k g , S tev e H ig g ins with 1 0 .5 2 k g and J ohn W aples with 9 .2 8 k g .
T he pairs ev ent was won by B ill and S tev e H ig g ins with 22.98kg.

T he following day the weather was pretty much the same… ex cept it rained continuously for v irtually the entire match. O nly a handful of true diehards turned up and once ag ain the match was at E l B osq uet.
W inner on the day, mak ing a welcome return to these shores, was the ‘W elsh W iz ard’ D oug ie H ornblow, who fished the pole with mag g ot on peg 3 for 1 5 k g . In second place was A lan P riest who, apart from doubling up as a recov ery truck to pull B ill out of the mud, had 1 1 k g from peg 1 . B ill R eade was third from peg 7 with 1 0 k g .
Nex t time we will be fishing the spring festiv al at this complex , and peg s A 1 to 7 , 1 8 to 2 5 and 2 6 to 4 0 are all book ed with 2 5 ang lers tak ing part. P leasure ang lers can use peg s 8 to 1 6 .
