Great weekend for Barbarians Rugby under 16s
IN atrocious rain and windy conditions, the B arbarians under 1 6 s trav elled to G andia on S aturday to tak e on Inter R ug by C lub (a mix ture of players from A lz ira, C ullera, T av ernes and G andia) in a bid to g ain a play-off spot by finishing in the top four of the leag ue.
H onours were ev enly split for the first half, and then, with the conditions deteriorating , the B a B as had their back s to the wall in the final 1 5 minutes, fig hting to hang on to a slender two point lead.
B attling ag ainst the wind, rain and big g er forwards, the B arbarians brav ely defended their own try line and held on, finally running out 1 9 -1 7 winners
No one shirk ed their responsibilities and it was an all-round g reat team effort.
T his S aturday sees a double-header at the D enia g round - F irst up are the under 1 6 s who play A K R A of A licante in the last match of the reg ular season, and then the seniors tak e on A K R A as well, in the semi-finals of the play offs for promotion to div ision 1 .
W e look forward to a bumper crowd coming to support the B arbarians, in what promises to be a hard battle ag ainst a strong A licante outfit. K ick -off is at 1 7 .0 0 .
