From a pub to a play!

RICHARD Haddon moved to Spain in 2017, having run a successful inn in the Cotswolds, which was awarded Best Traditional Pub by the Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards.

An early career in theatre and television beckoned. After five years with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and drama school training, he started out as a 'jobbing' actor, taking numerous minor roles on TV including Eastenders, The Chief and 'Allo, ‘Allo!' and on film: Kenneth Branagh's Henry V and Provoked.

On London's fringe, Richard received national acclaim for his direction of Martin Sherman's controversial play Bent at Hampstead's New End Theatre. Two productions of Sue Townsend's comedy Bazaar and Rummage followed in Battersea and Greenwich, the latter becoming hugely successful 'smash hit' tours of the UK - the casts were led by Lesley Joseph and Jill Gascoine.

He worked extensively in London's West End within the stage management and production teams for Les Miserables, The Phantom of The Opera, Grease, The King & I and The Royal Variety Show.

Bazaar and Rummage, by Sue Townsend, and directed by Richard, is a hysterical comedy set in Acton Church Hall. Neurotic 'do-gooder' Gwenda, and trainee social worker Fliss, manage to persuade three agoraphobic women from their homes after many years to run a jumble sale. The play contains many hilarious one-liners with some strong language too, which all adds up to a fun night out, as well as exposing a variety of very serious issues!

The show will be staged at Jávea Players’ Studio Theatre at 19.30 from Wednesday to Saturday, April 27-30 and again the following week, Wednesday to Saturday, May 4-7. Please note there is some strong language and adult themes.

Tickets are €12 and available only online. Allocated seating with only 54 seats. Please use sanitising liquid and wear a mask.
