Guardia Civil support Ukrainian students

- By Barry Wright

THE ALICANTE delegation of the unified Guardia Civil association (AUGC) has donated a variety of educational materials to Ukrainian students who are being taught in classrooms at the Costa Blanca Scandinavian school in Orihuela Costa.

AUGC had already collaborated with the Guardia Civil solidarity association (AGCS) during its ‘Operación Trizub’ humanitarian aid campaign, alongside various businesses in Alicante province – amongst them the transport company Castillo Trans which organised a convoy of 11 trailers containing 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid (worth around €500,000) that travelled to the conflict zone, where it helped an estimated 100,000 people.

AUGC has continued its campaign but this time to provide help for refugees arriving in Spain.

This second phase was started in order to ‘adequately assist’ the refugees arriving in Alicante province in recent days. In order to achieve this,

the association kept its established collection points open, but this time directed all donations to Cáritas and the Cruz Roja (Red Cross), as well as advising people wanting to make cash donations to do so through either NGO’s bank account.

School director Ingela Björklund thanked the association for its gesture and highlighted the diverse needs that they continue to have in order for the Ukrainian students to start the course, which began on Monday, April 11.

To this end the AUGC urges anyone who wishes to collaborate with the delivery of teaching material to telephone 670 795 618, or deliver it directly to the school at Calle Limón 1, Horizonte urbanisation, Orihuela Costa.
