Ladies at Lunch

ON Tuesday, April 19, a total of 31 ladies of the U3A Vall del Pop gathered for their monthly lunch. This month we revisited the restaurant Nou Portet, Murla. We were comfortably and spaciously seated in their dining room, with a view across the valley. Some of us were entertained by the peacock strutting his stuff and displaying his fan of feathers and shaking his booty for the two peahens. I expect the girls have seen it all before!

Our attention was soon diverted, probably like the peahens, to more important things, drinks and food. Staff promptly served us and conversation flowed.

As with previous lunches, advanced choices were made from the chef’s menu - starter, main course, with vegetarian option, and dessert with coffee to finish. It was a delight to raise our glasses, to congratulate Lynn Bishop on the birth of her new grand-daughter.

Normally, we meet every third Tuesday of the month, but due to various events and holidays in May this will be a temporary change to Thursday, May 19. The venue will be published on our website in due course.

If you’d like to take part, the U3A Vall del Pop welcomes new members. Take a look at our website and register your interest and while you are there have a look at all the other activities on offer.

Coffee morning

Most of us awoke to the familiar sound of rain splashing off the window panes but on Wednesday, April 20, the rain came with a little more excitement, flashes of light and claps of thunder. A few lucky people witnessed a fantastic rainbow arcing across the Jalón valley.

None of this dampened the spirits at the U3A Vall del Pop coffee morning, held at The Shack, Jalón. It was great to see some new faces who were made welcome, together with 25 members to enjoy a chat and a nice hot cup of coffee and if they spied it, a slice of coffee and walnut cake.

Marian White did an excellent job of organising the raffle with some lovely prizes of plants, chocolates and wine. We raised €35 for the U3A Goodwill Team.
