Pego Golf Society

-

WE had 31 players turn out for the single Stabelford held at Oliva Nova on Tuesday, April 26 so a very good turnout for the Pego Golf Society. There were no guests, which was probably good because we had a limited number of tee times!

The weather was good for golf, not too hot, no wind and the rain stayed away. Once again, I thought the course was in great condition, the weather has obviously helped. So, again, well done to Jaime and his team.

There was some pretty sparkling golf as well. We had prizes for two divisions and the overall results can be seen here:

Division 1 1. Nigel Siddall – 43 points, 2. Derek Lindley – 38 points, 3. Mick Farmer – 34 points Division 2

1. Fiona Sankey – 37 points, 2. Celia Cronin – 36 points, 3. Peter Hanks – 35 points

First in division 1 by a clear margin was Nigel Siddall, noone could touch Nigel today, he could have been at least one point better, because, despite winning the prize for nearest the pin on hole 16 he missed a very short putt for a two! But welldone Nigel, he has suffered though, because he has had is handicap cut to 10.2. In the second division it was a close-run thing with only two points separating the first and third place.

But Fiona Sankey came away with the honours with 37 points.

There were two twos recorded on the day, Steve Patton and John Evans, sadly though John did not enter the competition so the prize pot went to Steve. Nearest the pins went to Nigel Siddall on the 16th, and, with his second shot to the 5th the nearest the pin in two went, for the second week running, to Keith Worrall. This won them each a bottle of wine to take home.

Next week’s competition is The Jávea Cup, which is a pairs combined. If you would like to play please email the handicap secretary at pegohandicapsec@ gmail.com
