Vall del Pop U3A
By Paula Heffron and Peter Sockett ON Tuesday, October 18, on a gloriously sunny autumn afternoon, 31 ladies from the Vall del Pop U3A enjoyed a lovely get together and lunch at La Solana restaurant, Alcalalí. With the weather being so kind we were able to sit outside in the garden at two long tables, which allowed for lots of chatting and laughter.
The food was delicious: lots of shared starters followed by fish, meat or vegetarian options, served with fries and vegetables, all freshly prepared, plentiful portions and well presented. For dessert we enjoyed a mango sorbet with fresh pineapple. The meal was accompanied by wines, water or soft drinks to individual choices.
Sincere thanks to the staff at La Solana who made us so welcome and looked after us so well. It is always lovely to see so many old and new friends enjoying each other's company. We all had a very enjoyable afternoon and hope you will be able to join us next month, the venue and menu will be advised later.
Vall del Pop U3A's new season has seen three new groups starting their activities, so why not try something new.
The groups are: Petanca – every Wednesday, 11.00–13.00 at the pitches in Lliber
Canasta – every Tuesday, 14.00 at Riu Rau in Jalón Jewellery making – every other Monday, next meeting November 7 at 10.00, upstairs at Cas Claudia in Jalón
The ever-popular keep fit group is now running four sessions each week. Mondays at 10.00 and 11.00 at Los Amigos in Alcalalí and Wednesday at 10.00 and Friday at 11.00 at Poli Deportivo in Jalón.
Finally, the Let's Sing Along group celebrated its first anniversary in September, so why not go along and enjoy the fun, singing your favourite songs – 14.30 on Monday's at Black Apple, now called Third Age, in Jalón.
At the next general assembly, on Thursday, November 3, at the Polivalent Murla, the speaker will be Pete Cleary, who will tell us all about his experiences with the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue. One that you really shouldn't miss.
