AFTER the cancelled game last Tuesday because of the weather, there was a delayed start this week because of the frost! Despite the late start a total of 30 players turned out for the Captain's Drive-In Stableford.

There was also a prize for guessing how far this year’s captain, Celia Cronin, would drive off in the first tee shot of her captaincy year. The first prize went to Peter Hanks with a correct guess of 120 metres. There was also a prize for the nearest lady, which Donna Green won with her guess of 115m. Both the winners played with the captain on the day, but there was no suggestion of favouritism!

We had five guests Geoff Dawe, Robbie Dunne, Ray Young, Jan Stevenson and Les Vine. All were made very welcome. We hope to see Geoff, who also won the best guest score and nearest the pin with his second shot to the fifth as a full member next time he plays. The other nearest the pin, on the 16th, went to Bill Pike.

Despite the freezing cold start, there were some pretty good scores recorded. Finally, the winner was decided on count back, with Roger Brown finishing better than Brian Barden.

There were no twos on the day, so the prize money is rolled over to next week’s game.

The winners were:

1. Roger Brown – 38 points

2. Brian Barden – 38 points

3. Bill Pike – 37 – points

4. Anette Bowen – 33 points

5. Jan Jones – 33 points

6. Danny Heron – 33 points Next week’s game is yet to be decided, but if you would like to play, please email the handicap secretary at pego handicapsec@gmail.com
