Double win for the Barbarians Rugby Club

-

AN action-packed weekend saw both the under 16s and the seniors recording fine wins against tough opposition

First up was the Ba Bas’ u16s who travelled to local rivals Tatami of Valencia.

The game was hard fought and it was evident from the first whistle that both sides meant business, with the players running aggressively and competing hard in every contact situation.

The Ba Bas scored the opening points and went into the break leading 12-0, even though Tatami pinned the visitors in their 22 for long periods of play.

In the second half though, cracks started to appear in the Tatami defence and the Ba Bas saw opportunities to break through and tries from Sam, Marc and Winder sealed an epic victory for the away team, 36-3.

It was credit to all the players in providing such an entertaining game and on balance, it must be said, the Barbarians were just too powerful and skilful in all aspects of the play over the 80 minutes and thoroughly deserved their victory.

Following on form this superb victory, the seniors took on Elche on Sunday, in what turned out to be a hard-fought encounter in which both teams laid everything on the line.

The visitors opened the scoring following some fine support play and went into half time leading 10-0.

Elche though came out firing in the second half and hit back with a try and a penalty, but the Ba Bas hung on to record a fine victory 10-8

Next games will see the u16s at home in Denia on Saturday, February 4 at 10.00, whilst the seniors have a rest weekend prior to playing their last four league games for a place in the play-offs.
