Permanent exhibition: Featuring works by Emilio Varela, Lorenzo Aguirre, Rigoberto Soler, Vicente Albarranch and Gastón Castelló. To highlight Varela’s works the exhibition curators selected paintings containing the province’s ‘luminous landscapes, recognisable urban views of the city of Alicante, extraordinary self-portraits, interiors, still lifes and portraits’ marked by the artist’s ‘original and unmistakable style’. Permanent: ‘The 19th century. The collection in the light’ exhibition at Alicante museum of fine art (MUBAG). Including eight works from the Prado museum in Madrid. Containing 75 paintings and sculptures of diverse themes which are being displayed in a renovated space within MUBAG, and pays homage to 30 artists linked to Alicante province. MUBAG is situated at Calle Gravina 13-15. Open Tuesday to Saturday 10.00-20.00, Sundays and public holidays 10.00-14.00. It is closed on Mondays. Admission is free
SKIES AND BEACHES
Until February 28: Solo exhibition of impressionistic land and seascapes, entitled ‘Cielos y Playas’ (skies and beaches) by the Californian former architect and interior designer Lanie Geldert.
