February full of fun in Alcalalí

THE 2023 Alcalalí ‘Feslalí’ festival is taking place until Sunday, February 26.

The seventh edition of the festival suggests that ‘Alcalalí is the place to be in February’, as the town hall is ‘aiming to share culture, history, nature, gastronomy and more’.

“We look forward to seeing you: alone, accompanie­d, with your family, friends, partner... however you wish,” a council spokesman said.

All routes leave from the town square.

Here is the programme of main events:

Wednesdays to Sundays from 10.30-13.30: Visits to the town’s medieval tower

Saturday, February 11 at 11.30: ‘Let's discover Alcalalí’ urban route. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential Sunday, February 12 at 08.30: ‘The ecosystems of Alcalalí’, ornitholog­ical outing covering a five kilometre low difficulty circular route. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential 12.00: Award ceremony and exhibition of the winning photograph­s in the seventh Feslalí photograph­y marathon, in the town square

12.30: Sixth edition of the almond sweets and pastries competitio­n, in the town square Saturday, February 18 at 10.00: Pet-friendly outing – ‘a route with our pets’, covering an 8km low difficulty route taking around 2.5 hours. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential

Sunday, February 19 at 10.00: Ethno-botany outing: ‘Good herbs: uses and virtues’, covering a circular low difficulty 4.5km route. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential 12.30: Workshop – ‘the good herbs of February: From the country to the plate’ at the library on Calle Sequeret, 2. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential

Saturday, February 25 all day: Crafts and local products fair, and creation of a mural by the artist Joaquin Vila at Calle Valent

08.30: La Peña Atalaya circular 12km walk of medium/high difficulty, taking around 4.5 hours. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential

11.00: Inaugurati­on, with pipe and drum music, of the crafts and local products fair at Calle Porxe

12.00: Bottle cap workshop, described as a ‘fun and dynamic activity to develop the imaginatio­n with creative illustrati­ons to take home as a nice souvenir’. Suitable for people of all ages

12.30: ‘Rises’ show, Valencian humour with comedy monologues by Cabra Fotuda and María Zamora.

16.30: Family circus workshop – learn to develop skills and ingenuity by increasing physical and motor skills

18.00: Aromatic herbs workshop – sensory and environmen­tal awareness activity to learn how to identify different native aromatic herbs

20.00: Fire and juggling show Sunday, February 26 all day: Crafts and local products fair, and creation of a mural by the artist Joaquin Vila at Calle Valent

10.00: ‘Mosquera: culture and nature’ – a 4.5km low difficulty

walk to the Mosquera district of the municipali­ty, taking 2.5 hours. Places are limited and reservatio­ns are essential 11.00: Inaugurati­on of the crafts and local products fair at Calle Porxe 11.00-14.00: Traditiona­l handcrafte­d games made with recycled materials to suit all tastes and ages. Strategy, ingenuity, skill and competitiv­e games, etc

12.00: Cantacanci­ones (singing), show by Dani Miquel

16.00: Textile painting workshop – creative activity to develop the imaginatio­n and learn diverse techniques for painting on canvas

18.00: Fair and festival closes
