• THERE were opening Six Nations Rugby Union wins for Scotland over England, Ireland over Wales and for reigning champions France who squeezed past Italy with a late try. Scotland’s victory was their second in a row at Twickenham. Tomorrow, Ireland face France and Scotland meet Wales, while on Sunday England play Italy

• Tennis star Cameron Norrie won his vital singles game as team GB beat Colombia to reach the finals of the Davis Cup, which takes place at four venues later in the year

• Scotland’s Laura Muir led a dominant GB performanc­e in the 3,000 metres at the recent New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston. The reigning European and Commonweal­th champion won the race in a time of eight minutes 40.34 seconds as GB’s athletes filled the top four positions

• Congratula­tions to GB’s four-man bobsleigh team of Brad Hall, Taylor Lawrence, Greg Cackett and Arran Gulliver, who won silver in the IBSF World championsh­ips in St. Moritz. This was GB’s first medal in this event for 84 years, since 1939

• Perth Scorchers defeated

• Chelsea are top of the FA Women's Super League, two points ahead of Manchester United, 31-29, with Arsenal and Manchester City third and fourth, both with 26 points

• After a long investigat­ion, the Premier League has charged Manchester City with over 100 offences of breaking its financial rules.

An independen­t commission is looking into these irregulari­ties which took place between 2009 and 2018. If found guilty, City could face a points deduction, relegation or a heavy fine. We await the outcome with bated breath. Remember what happened to Glasgow Rangers a decade ago!
