Cancer charity walk returns to La Nucía

-

THIS Sunday, February 19, the cancer charity walk in La Nucía returns after the Covid19 pandemic caused a two-year hiatus.

The walk covers a distance of five kilometres between the Camilo Cano sports complex and the Captivador environmental education centre (CEM) and is open to all ages, given the low difficulty of the route. It is designed so that everyone can do it at their own pace, without rushing. Participation is free and the walk will start at 10.30. Refreshments will be included.

The meeting point will be the 'road education area' at the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano, next to the pavilion. Drivers are advised to park in the Muixara pavilion and the Olímpic stadium.

A shuttle bus has been arranged for those who do notwant to walk the route but wish to take part in the event.

From 11.00 at the CEM Captivador there will be children's workshops organised by the Valencia health agency, to raise awareness amongst youngsters of the fight against cancer.

To raise funds there will be a raffle, with prizes donated free of charge by more than 120 collaborating companies from La Nucía and the Marina Baixa area.

The raffle will take place at 12.00 at the CEM Captivador. Raffle tickets are €3 and available from members of La Nucía Cancer Association, members of Anémona, or on the day of the event.

All proceeds will go to the cancer charities AECC and Anémona (a self-help group for women of the Marina Baixa with breast cancer). In 2020, in its eleventh edition, just over €7,500 was raised and 5,000 walkers took part.
