• The women’s T20 Cricket World Cup is now underway and there have been early wins for England who defeated the West Indies by seven wickets and Ireland by four wickets. The Irish, in fact, collapsed from 80-2 to 105 all out, as bowler Sophie Ecclestone took 3-13 while team-mate Alice Capsey scored 50 in just 21 balls - the fastest half-century by an English lass in this format of the game. Right now England’s men (325-9 declared in their first innings) are playing New Zealand (37-3) in the first Test ‘down under’
• Former England white-ball cricket captain Eoin Morgan, aged 36, has announced his retirement from all formats of the game
• Last weekend the three Six Nations matches produced 138 points. England beat Italy 31-14, Ireland defeated France 32-19 and Scotland beat Wales 35-7
• US golfer Scottie Scheffler (USA) won the Phoenix PGA Tour event, finishing two strokes ahead of Canada’s Nick Taylor with Jon Rahm of Spain third. Scheffler has now replaced Rory McIlroy as the world’s number one. And Tiger Woods is currently playing in the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Club - his first action on the PGA Tour for seven months
• GB’s four-man bobsleigh team of Brad Hall, Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett won the World Cup silver medal to end a remarkable season on a high. The foursome amassed 1,707 points - 30 behind champions Germany - and it was GB’s first four-man bobsleigh World Championship medal for 84 years
• Wu Yibing has become the first Chinese tennis player to win an APT title by beating the American John Isner in the final of the Dallas Open. Staying with tennis and GB number one Emma Raducanu has been given a wild card entry into next month’s Indian Wells tournament in the USA
• Last weekend’s NFL Super Bowl final was won by Kansas City Chiefs who beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in a thrilling final encounter at the State Farm Stadium. The Chiefs were 24-14 and then 27-21 down before racing to victory in the final quarter
