Jávea Players pull out all the stops
COME along to the Unión Musical de Gata to hear Nancy (Francesca Ashby) belt out her raucous Oom Pah Pah song. This West End show is a feast for the eyes and ears with so many wellknown toe-tapping tunes.
The cast of the musical Oliver! has had a great time preparing for this super show, comprising many talented actors and singers. The children, aged nine to 15, have risen to the challenge and are amazing. Old and new members have added their vocal prowess, too, under the direction of Cherry Cabban, aided by Jen Kellow-Ward and the baton of musical director Aileen Lightfoot, with choreography by Abi Fletcher.
The actors include Tony Sim who plays a convincing Fagin, likewise Joel Rice as Mr Bumble. Sharon White (Mrs. Sowerby) is a relative newcomer to the Players, while her husband Andy has performed several times, this time as the Knife Grinder. Lena Elster (Matron) has already proved herself an accomplished actress, even if she was killed at the end of the first act of The Mousetrap. The chairman’s daughters, Arabella and Florrie are also taking part, the latter with the haunting 'Who will buy?' song.
Show dates are March 27 to April 1 with curtain up at 19.30, except for the matinee on Saturday, April 1, which is at 16.00.
The Unión Musical de Gata is located at Carrer de les Aromes, 3, 03740 Gata de Gorgos.
