Charity rock concert
ON the evening of Saturday, March 25 from 20.00 until 22.00, a rock concert in aid of Animal Rainbow Rescue will be taking place at Camping Almafra, located near the Alfaz tram stop. Nine-piece band 'Resurrection' fronted by John Tyler – who many will know, and no doubt have heard as the magnificent Tom Jones tribute, will be performing to help raise muchneeded funds to support the work that this incredible small charity does. Set up and established in 2018 in Benidorm by Jodi Gagg, Maria Lourdes Ayestaran and Andy Ransom, their mission is to rescue and rehome all animals, including cats, dogs, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, turtles, seagulls, pigeons, giant snails and doves! They work closely with other charitable animal organisations and have assisted in joint adoptions and campaigns to neuter street cats.
Pre-pandemic they had a network of foster homes, but, sadly, many of those people have returned to their country of origin, and they have been left with a small team of three who now mainly concentrate on saving old and disabled animals. Unsurprisingly, as we all know, costs have sky-rocketed and vet bills and daily feeding are now being funded by volunteers out of their own pockets or by generous donations from friends and animal lovers, as they have no assistance from the council or government.
The rock night will be a great opportunity to enjoy some fantastic music, whilst helping a very worthy and deserving local cause.
Tickets are just €5 and available from the reception at Almafra, and any donations of cat or dog food would most certainly be very much appreciated.
