Jalón Valley Help friendship through volunteering
IT is not often that we get the chance to celebrate a 63rd wedding anniversary but that is what happened on Sunday, April 2. Barbara and Terry Money, long-term supporters of Jalón Valley Help, were brought to Ánimo at the Centro Cívico in Alcalalí, for what they thought would be a simple afternoon tea. Little did they know that approximately 40 friends had gathered to help them celebrate their
63rd wedding anniversary.
During the previous week, their daughter Caroline and son Steve had 'tipped the wink' to Helen, manager of Ánimo of the forthcoming anniversary. Then it was action stations to arrange the surprise party.
Barbara and Terry were met at the door with flowers, before being taken into the Ánimo room where everyone was waiting to welcome them. There was a simple, and very moving blessing of the marriage by Barbara Chadwick, pastor of Valley Fellowship, before the couple were taken outside for photographs. Meanwhile the guests all moved into an adjacent room for the reception, with a sumptuous afternoon tea, a beautiful cake made by Lynne Henry, and of course a glass of cava to toast the happy couple.
Barbara is seldom lost for words, but both she and Terry were overwhelmed by the occasion and they
weren't the only ones to shed a tear or two at the love and good wishes in the room.
So let’s not put off volunteering until a friend/family member actually needs JVH’s help. Let’s volunteer our services today.
Please don’t forget our forthcoming events:
April 22: Treasure Hunt from the Ánimo in Alcalalí
June 1: Bring-Your-Own-Picnic at Los Arcos, Pedreguer, with The Entertainers
