Until May 27: Valencia region’s Consorci de Museus’ (regional museum consortium CMCV) PhotoAlica­nte internatio­nal photograph­y festival at various cultural spaces in Alicante city.

This year’s event goes under the theme ‘¡Celebremos! (let’s celebrate) and is being organised by the CMCV in collaborat­ion with Alicante city hall, El Campello town hall department for culture and the Banco Sabadell foundation. Full details available online through https://photoalica­nte.com/

Until May 28: The geometric abstractio­n of Elena Asins is on display at Alicante museum of contempora­ry art (MACA). Elena Asins was a conceptual artist, writer and art critic who formed part of the resurgence of Spanish art in the decades of the 60s and 70s. MACA is situated at Plaza Santa María, 3, Alicante and is open Tuesday-Saturday

THE WARRIORS OF XI’AN

Until January: Exhibition about China’s Terracotta Army, at Alicante museum of archaeolog­y (MARQ), featuring a total of 120 original pieces, including a number of terracotta warriors, and five replicas. The importance of the exhibition is marked by the fact that this is the first time many of the exhibits have been on display outside of China. Ticket through the MARQ website at www.marqalican­te.com General admission is €5 and there are discounts for pensioners, young people and students, as well as other collective­s. Guided tours in English cost €8 and €6 for pensioners curators selected paintings containing the province’s ‘luminous landscapes, recognisab­le urban views of the city of Alicante, extraordin­ary self-portraits, interiors, still lifes and portraits’ marked by the artist’s ‘original and unmistakab­le style’.
