A fine time for wine
THE BARBERA dels Aragonés gardens in Villajoyosa are hosting the 17th edition of the town’s wine show, which takes place today (Friday).
The gardens are situated in the urban and cultural centre of the town and boast sufficient space to accommodate the more than 1,000 people who are expected to attend.
The show is being organised by the town hall in collaboration with Bodegas Fincal, and 10 of the municipality’s restaurants, including Ca Marta, El Pòsit, Club Náutico, Pinet, El Nàutic, Hogar del Pescador, Zerca, Restó Renné, DRoca and El Trébol, will, between them, host La Barbera café bar, which will be installed in the gardens.
The restaurants will prepare tapas to accompany wines from the more than 50 wineries that are participating in the show.
The event starts at 17.00 with the ‘wine watercolour competition’ and will be folwines, lowed by the ‘Trilogia de Bobal’ wine tasting event, hosted by Maximiliano Bao – voted the best Spanish sommelier by Verema magazine – who will be tasting wines from Bodegas Vicente Gandía. This activity costs €15 and places are limited. People attending this event will receive a gift valued at €30.
The show opens to those not attending the wine tasting at 20.00 and, in addition to the there will be a tasting of olive oil from Enguera, and a stand dedicated to the fortified wine drink vermouth.
