On course with Jávea Golf Club

ON Saturday, April 15, in very windy conditions, the Trofeo Comité de Competició­n was held at Jávea Golf Club.

As usual, the Stableford competitio­n had two categories of entrants: the first for those with handicaps below 18 and the second for those with handicaps of 19 and above. The first category was won by Francisco Miñana Vidal, who scored 37 points. In second was Ken Hughes with 36 points and third place went José María Muñoz Fuster who also scored 36 points, but with a higher handicap.

The second category saw Antonio Buigues Tormos take first place with a Stableford score of 38 points. With a higher handicap, Rita Ella LinderKoll­er also scored 38 points and finished second, while in third place was Francisco Bernat Nacher, who scored 36 points.

The next competitio­n will be the highly competitiv­e InterGroup Trophy which will be held on Wednesday, April 26.

Afterwards, this year’s club champions (pictured) were awarded their prizes and trophies. Ken Hughes won his inaugural Jávea Golf Club championsh­ip, whilst Julie Barry became ladies’ champion for an incredible, and massively impressive, 11th time!

Jávea Golf Club continues to make improvemen­ts to the quality of its course, already considered to be one of the best maintained on the Costa Blanca. It is further developing its infrastruc­ture whilst also enhancing the service it provides to its growing membership. For example, excellent practise facilities and expert golf profession­als (both male and female) are on hand to teach beginners and more experience­d players.

The club’s multinatio­nal membership, composed of Spanish, British, Dutch, Belgian, French, German, Swiss and others, ensures that a very friendly welcome, atmosphere and social scene is maintained.
