Fibromyalgia awareness

INTERNATIONAL Fibromyalgia Awareness Day takes place annually on May 12.

To commemorate the event, Torrevieja town hall has organised a number of activities and presentations, running from May 8-13.

Councillor for NGOs and volunteering, Concha Sala and the president and vice president of the Torrevieja fibromyalgia association (ASIMEPP), Maite Miralles and Mamen Veredas presented details of the activities.

‘Open days’ are open to all people, with prior reservation, which is taking place by telephone on 96 692 71 40, or in person at the ASIMEPP headquarters at Calle Concordia 9.

Monday, May 8 – open day

10.00: Adapted yoga at the natural swimming pools

17.00: Soft yoga at ASIMEPP headquarters

19.00: Tai chi at the Parque de las Naciones

Tuesday, May 9 – open day

09.30: Tai chi at the Parque de las Naciones

11.00: Keep fit at the natural swimming pools, accompanied by the Torrevieja physically disabled association (AMFA) and Amas de Casa (housewives association)

18.45: Hatha yoga at ASIMEPP headquarters

19.00: Conference called ‘food and lifestyle to improve inflammation’ with family and community medicine specialist, Mireya Martínez Fernández and dietician/nutritionist, Abel Henarejos Almagor

17.00: Soft yoga at ASIMEPP headquarters

17.30 and 19.00: Gong workshop – Tibetan bowl sounds, by sound healing therapist Etel Canalis, at the Virgen del Carmen culture centre
