Eight Marina Alta towns sign charter of Local Police collaboration
POLICE forces in the region have joined together and signed a Charter of Commitment so they can work together in times of need.
Chiefs from Benissa, Dénia, Jávea, Ondara, El Verger, Benitachell, Lliber and Pedreguer gathered at Lliber town hall to sign the agreement, along with the mayor from each town.
The charter, called the Carta de Compromisos, aims to unify procedures and establish a commitment towards mutual assistance and coordination.
All forces will be able to share their resources, from extra officers to data and vehicles, in an emergency.
The project, first devised in 2011, was launched in Dénia last March and officially launched this week.
It will cover around half of the Marina Alta, meaning 200,000 residents are protected by extra police resources if and when required.
Beniarbeig and other towns are expected to sign the charter in 2018.
