The quick thinking of a doctor and policeman, who were both enjoying a fiesta in Benissa, saved a man’s life last Sunday. A member of the public noticed the man lying in the road in the town centre during the festivities for Sant Antoni. After shouting for assistance, both the police officer and the doctor came running to help. They quickly established the man had no pulse and was unconscious, and performed heart massage and mouth-tomouth resuscitation. Two on-duty officers also attended to the heart attack victim, and called for a life support ambulance. They managed to revive him, and when the ambulance crew arrived, they took him to Denia hospital for treatment. The man was well enough to sit up in bed the following day and is recovering well.
