Hospital N-332 access demand
Nearest junction is 2km away despite being 50m from the road
Marina Baixa hospital, located between Villajoyosa and Benidorm, is between a bypass and a motorway but has access to neither, which means that ambulances have to do an extra six kilometres to get to the ER.
Hospital staff are pushing strongly for a direct access to the centre, they have been contacting all the public administration departments that have a say in the matter including public works, as well as contacting Valencian president Ximo Puig and the new health regional councillor, Ana Barceló.
In 2005, a by-pass for the N332 main road was built by the ministry of public works, it passes less than 50 metres from the hospital doors, and staff think it's absurd that no one thought to include a direct connection to the hospital in the project.
They think the time is ripe now, to include the accesses as the hospital now has extra land next to the bypass, part of which will house the new hospital extension.
Staff will also try and obtain support from the mayors of the 18 Marina Baixa towns that use the hospital.
