The Guardia Civil carried out three separate investigations recently which culminated with the dismantling of several organisations.
THE GUARDIA civil carried out three separate investigations over the past two months, which culminated with the dismantling of several organisations who allegedly trafficked marijuana and hashish, under the name of ‘Associations Cannabis’
he operations, led respectively by agents of the Guardia Civil of Benissa, Calpe and Jávea, began when complaints began to be received from residents living close to the associations, who detected strong smells of marijuana. The residents also started to worry that children could become involved in drug misuse. In the first operation led by Benissa Guardia Civil, four Spanish men were arrested, aged between 32 and 36 years old. Two brothers were the main leaders of the group.
They created an association with two stores, one in Denia and another in Benissa, for the distribution and sale of the drugs, mainly marijuana.
They had rented a house in the name of a third party in
Pego, where they cultivated 400 marijuana plants. The homeowner was left with a €5,000 bill for electricity. Electricians and gardeners, who also worked as security guards, participated in the assembly of this plantation. They were also armed.
Four homes were raided in Denia, Pedreguer, Beniarbeig and Pego, here officers seized 12kg of marijuana buds ready prepared for sale, 1kg of hashish pollen, 300g of hashish and €2,000 in cash. The second operation, led by Calpe Guardia Civil officers, culminated in the arrests in Calpe and Moraira, of 7 men (6 Spaniards and 1 Colombian) and 2 women (1 Spanish and 1 Moroccan), aged between 19 and 40 years old.
In this case, the main culprit was a 28-year-old Spanish man, who created the organisation to supposedly profit from the sale of marijuana and hashish. He had hired three people as employees, who distributed the drugs to their clients, and had an accountant who prepared the list of prices for the sale of
drugs to the public.
The raids occurred at four homes in Calpe and one in Moraira. They resulted in the seizure of €31,700 euros, 2kg of marijuana, 650g of hashish, 1,000 marijuana seeds, 1 hydraulic press and a compressor. This last swoop was carried out at the premises of two Jávea associations. The detainees in this instance were a 55-year-old Dutch man and a 27-year-old British woman. Here, 3kgs, divided into 1,075 bags of 2g or 3g prepared for distribution, were
seized. 760 cigars and €530 were also found.
The other two people arrested, in a second association, were two men, Spaniards of 33 and 21 years of age, who served as treasurer and worker.
The drugs seized in this raid were been 21g of hashish, 67g of hashish pollen, 13g of hashish oil, 3ml of hashish oil, €70 in cash, material for weighing etc.
They were all taken to court and released pending a further hearing.
