Missing tourist in Gata found safe and well
An appeal to help find a missing tourist in Gata de Gorgos generated an overwhelming response this weekend with over 50 local residents and volunteer groups joining in the search. Martín Gianello, 55, from Madrid, was last seen in the Paseo de Alicante area on Saturday evening, but he was found safe and well on Wednesday morning. He had turned up at a GP surgery in Moraira after walking through Gata, Regulada and Benissa and was 'tired and disorientated', according to medical staff. They had difficulty at first finding out who he was, and asked if he remembered his telephone number. He did, and staff called Martín's wife and put him on the line – at which point he reportedly broke down in tears. She collected him immediately and took him home. Local police thanked all those who gave up their time, including the Civil Protection squad and the USAR13 group, plus dozens of members of the public.
